About the artistSamantha Fein is an interdisciplinary artist from Tucson, Arizona.  She utilizes the visual form to create pieces that address contemporary psychosocial issues, nonlinear narratives, and absurdist humor.  While primarily known for her large-scale oil paintings and mixed media drawings, she continually experiments with all forms of creative expression.

As a Fulbrighter in 2009-2010, Ms. Fein studied the drug use behavior of high risk adolescent populations in the Philippines capital of Manila. There, she completed an ethnographic account of the substance use behavior (contributing factors, mitigating factors, usage patterns, etc.) among 50+ young people living on the streets in four areas of Metro Manila and  also completed a statistical analysis based on data she collected from over 100 youth confined to a government run detention center. Additionally, Ms. Fein led art projects with local street adolescents. She currently resides in Baltimore and is active in the Washington, DC art scene.
